Jesus Blesses the Children

Wherever Jesus went, crowds followed. People wanted him to teach them, to heal them, and to bless them.

One day, some parents began bringing their children to Jesus. They just wanted him to place his hands on their little ones and pray for them.

But the disciples thought Jesus was far too busy and important for that. “Don’t bother him!” they said, trying to send the families away. “Jesus has grown-up work to do.”

When Jesus saw what was happening, he wasn’t pleased with his disciples at all.

“Let the little children come to me,” he said. “Don’t ever stop them! For the kingdom of God belongs to children just like these.”

Then Jesus did something wonderful. He gathered the children close. He took them in his arms, placed his hands gently on their heads, and blessed each one.

He even told the grown-ups something surprising: unless they learned to trust God the way a little child trusts — simply, openly, without pretending — they would never understand the kingdom of heaven.

This story reminds us of a beautiful truth: you are never too small, too young, or too unimportant for Jesus. He always has time for you. He knows your name. And he loves to hold you close, just as you are.
